Heather Berkman
Senior Analyst
Heather Berkman joined Eurasia Group's Latin America practice as an associate in December 2007. She covers Colombia, Central America and the Caribbean. Heather has a master's degree in pacific and international affairs from the University of California, San Diego, and a bachelor's degree with distinction in international relations from the University of Pennsylvania. She speaks fluent Spanish and basic Portuguese.
Prior to Eurasia Group, Heather worked in the research department of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where she focused on political economy research on the institutional determinants of public policy outcomes. She also contributed a chapter on violence and social exclusion in Latin America and the Caribbean to the IDB's annual Economic and Social Progress Report. Before her position at the IDB, Heather worked on the international affairs and trade team of the Government Accountability Office, where she researched issues related to international trade negotiations in the WTO, as well as the San Diego World Trade Center.
