Riccardo Fabiani focuses on Algeria, Mauritania, Morocco, Israel, Tunisia and Libya, with a particular emphasis on the region's Islamist movements, terrorism, and political economy. His sectoral expertise includes the telecommunications, energy, and financial services industries.
Prior to joining Eurasia Group, Riccardo worked as a senior economist on the Middle East and North Africa at D&B Country Risk Services and as a remote analyst on North Africa for Exclusive Analysis. Previously, he held positions at Reuters and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He regularly appears in the media, with television appearances on networks such as Bloomberg, Fox News, CNBC and BNN and frequently provides commentary for international publications including Time, and Algeria's El Watan and the newswires Reuters, and the Associated Press. In addition, Riccardo has published articles online in Foreign Policy and the Financial Times, published papers through various think tanks, and presents at conferences across the Middle East and North Africa.
Riccardo holds an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Cambridge, an MA in Political Science from the University of RomaTre and has studied in Paris, Jerusalem, Istanbul, and Cairo. Riccardo is fluent in French and Italian, and conversant in Arabic.
