Karen Hawkins
Associate Director
Karen Hawkins is an associate director of business development for Japan. She has been managing Eurasia Group's Japanese clients since joining the firm in 2005. Karen received her master's degree in international and intercultural management from the School for International Training in 1996. She also holds two undergraduate degrees in fine arts from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Prior to joining Eurasia Group, Karen was a senior program officer at the Japan Society in New York, where she managed a very active roster of business conferences and speaking events by global business leaders and policymakers, as well as relationships with Japan Society's largest corporate sponsors. A former journalist, Karen covered the Japanese capital markets for Dow Jones from Tokyo during the Asian financial crisis of the late 1990s. She has also worked for the Japanese government, as a research associate for the former Japan National Oil Corporation in Washington, DC, and for the research institute of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Tokyo. Karen grew up in Japan, lived there for 16 years, and speaks Japanese fluently.
