Michal Meidan

Analyst

Michal Meidan is an analyst in Eurasia Group's Asia practice. Her research includes China's energy and environmental policies, policymaking, Chinese elite politics, and diplomacy. She holds an MA in political sciences and East Asian studies from the French Institute of Oriental Languages and Cultures. She also spent time at the Center for Energy Policy and Mineral Law Policy at the University of Dundee and at Qinghua University in Beijing. She speaks Mandarin and French.

Prior to joining Eurasia Group in March 2010, Michal was a research associate at Asia Centre at Sciences Po. She headed the center's energy and environment program, and conducted research and consulting projects for government ministries and companies. She was also a lecturer in the East Asia department at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem; she taught courses on China's political economy and integration into global politics and trade. Michal has presented numerous conference papers and edited a book entitled Shaping China's Energy Security: The Inside Perspectives. She has also published articles in China Perspectives, Asian Perspectives, and the Journal of Contemporary China.
