Area of Expertise: US politics and trade policy; political risk management
Sean West is Eurasia Group's Deputy CEO, a position he assumed in 2013. In early 2015 he also assumed leadership of the firm's London office with an eye toward growing Eurasia Group's European business at a moment of great political risk for clients in the region. In both these roles he is responsible for key elements of the firm's strategy and management, especially related to developing innovative services and approaches to manage political risk.
Sean has been with the firm since 2008, working first in Washington and then in New York. He led development of the firm's approach to Washington-based political risk for financial market and corporate clients, founding the firm's US Practice Group. Sean is a noted US political risk expert whose predictions and analysis have been recognized and carried in the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Harvard Business Review and many others.
Prior to joining Eurasia Group, Sean was a management consultant at Deloitte, where he advised US government clients on risk management and mitigation. He also worked at the Federal Reserve Bank, where he published on housing finance issues. He holds an MPP from the University of California, Berkeley where he instructed classes on US politics and globalization. He holds a BS in International Politics from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and has studied politics and government at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
