NEW YORK, 11 October 2011-Eurasia Group is pleased to announce that Crispin Hawes has joined the firm as Practice Head and Director, Middle East and North Africa. He is based in London.
Crispin has over 20 years of experience providing political analysis on the Middle East and North Africa, including four years as head of Eurasia Group's Middle East and Africa practice group from 2002 to 2005. Most recently, he was consulting primarily on the regional oil and gas sector as a partner and head of Middle East and North Africa research for Horizon, a boutique consultancy.

Crispin has also worked as a Middle East analyst at Control Risks and the Economist Intelligence Unit. In those positions, he provided extensive and detailed analysis of geopolitical developments across the Middle East, and also provided on-the-ground security risk analysis. In addition, Crispin was a political and economic analyst at Credit Lyonnais Securities Asia.
Crispin earned both a bachelors' degree in Arabic and a masters' degree in Middle East and North Africa Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London.
