Ziyanda analyzes political and economic developments in Southern Africa, with a focus on South Africa, Mozambique, and Angola. She tracks policy trends in the region, particularly those in macroeconomics, security, trade, and energy.
Prior to joining Eurasia Group, Ziyanda worked as a policy researcher in the South African parliament and as an adviser on evidence-based policymaking at a development economics think tank at the University of Cape Town. She has experience in public policy development, as well as policing and security policy analysis. Ziyanda holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Stellenbosch University, a master's degree in security studies from Sussex University, and a master's degree in international development from Brandeis University. In her free time, Ziyanda enjoys traveling in South Africa and abroad and discovering new wineries.
